Exotic European - Karelia Robinie Stonewashed Ebony and Ivory hardwood floors for unique interior design

The Stonewashed family is a part of Karelia's Style Leaders, our trendiest hardwood floor selections along with the design classic Saima. With various surface treatments we've managed to bring out extraordinary shades and tones from an ordinary hardwood floor. Now you have a chance to create entirely new spaces from soft and silky surfaces to strong and lively contrasts. We are extremely proud of these Style Leaders. Thanks to the latest technology and new, innovative designers, hardwood floor is now an even more exciting and versatile part of interior decoration.

The steamed Robinie used for the Karelia hardwood floor is made of the fast growing Robinia pseudoacacia, also known as wild acacia and black locust. This Robinie species grows in North America, from where it also has been brought to Europe to grow in parks and on roadsides. Robinie has good resistance against air pollution and rot, therefore it is often used in outdoor furniture and boats. Robinie resists warping, carking, and cupping better than almost all other finished woods. In its natural state Robinie wood is yellow, but it often is steamed, thus gaining a dark colour. Robinie is perfect for building an interior design even for people with the most discriminating of tastes.

Most Robinie species are used for valuable timber; some species are used for furniture, which takes a high polish; and some yield a fragrant timber, and are used for ornamental purposes.

Stonewashing accentuates the grain patterns of the wood

Stonewashing is a method where the surface of the hardwood floor is first wire brushed and then tint oiled and then finished with clear oil. Stonewashing accentuates the grain structure of the wood and tint oil gives the floor a unigue appearance. The Karelia Stonewashed family consists of Oak Ebony, Ivory, Charcoal and Clay as well as Robinie Ebony and Ivory.

Karelia Robinie Hardwood Flooring is available during Spring 2008 from the local Karelia reseller in selected countries.
